How these calculators work

Each state calculator applies the 2026 federal income tax brackets and standard deduction for your filing status (single $16,100 / married joint $32,200 / head of household $24,150), Social Security (6.2% up to the $184,500 wage base), Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% above $200,000 single / $250,000 joint), and a simplified model of that state's own income tax (joint filers: state thresholds approximated at twice the single amounts — the convention in most states). Results are estimates for budgeting and comparing offers — they are not tax advice, and they exclude local city and county income taxes unless a state page notes them.
